1st Annual Composition Competition

ViolettesbyBecky.com presents first annual Composition Competition for ages 10 thru 17.Please support our work with purchases of Gift Ideas for Music Lovers. Everyone gives gifts. Why not a Violin Purse?Entries are currently being reviewed for the first competition, and notable judges are, Grammy Award winner, Lucas Richman, composer and conductor of both the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra (KSO) and Bangor SO; and Klezmer Jazz composer, musician, and writer, Paul Brody, who has records with his band, Sadawi, on   Tzadik and Enja records labels. We received entries nationwide from California to Florida, but no guitar or country music submissions. We hope to see these in our next competition. “Next year we would like to pair mentors with students thru skype. If you are interested in being notified about our next competition as a competitor, mentor or judge, please contact us”.Composition Title: Being Me Now!A song is sometimes the melody, sometimes the lyrics and sometimes the heart. However your song comes thru, let it fly. Share your reflections and introspections.Rules:

1. 1. For ages 10 thru 17 by Feb. 14, 2014.
2. 2. Composition must be between two and five minutes in length.
3. 3. Compositions may be for voice or any instrument(s) or any combination. Words are not necessary.
4. 4. Collaborative work accepted.
5. 5. Submissions may be a score, tape or/and video.
6. 6. Compositions will be judged by two independent professional musicians to be announced at a later date.
7. 7. Register to enter by December 1, 2013.
8. 8. Late registration is accepted until December 31, 2013 for a fee of $10.
9. 9. Compositions are due by February 14, 2014. Submit to Violettes "Contact us" email.
10. 10. Prize will be announced on April 15, 2014.
11. 11. Registering for the competition means that you agree that you have done this by yourself and that you have not plagiarized.
