Classical Music Discoveries
Classical Music Discoveries was founded by Ken Hedgecock in 1994 as a way to promote the Orchestra of Southern Utah. The show was known as "OSU Podcasts" and the main idea behind the podcasts was to increase the concert audience of the orchestra.Their first podcast audience size was only 127 people which amazed Ken that people would actually find and listen to his show without any advertising of the podcast.The audience size continue to grow into the thousands and in their 2nd season, the show began to attract the attention of national music magazines which ran articles about the show.With their mission accomplished (increase OSU audience size) a decision had to be made whether to discontinue the show or professionalize the format and continue.During the summer hiatus between seasons 2 and 3, Ken made the decision to completely revamp the show's format and continue.For season 3, Classical Music Discoveries was officially born and Ken's wife, Sandy also came aboard as the show's hostess. The new format quickly caught on and the show surpassed 1 million listeners in only 60 days.Today, in its 10th season, Classical Music Discoveries attracts over 600 million listeners per month and has been the #1 classical music show in the world for the past 7 years and continues to be a major force in the music world.Ken Hedgecock is a professional brass performer and the trombone is his major instrument. Hehas performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Orchestra of Southern Utah and theKiev Symphony Orchestra. Ken also plays with the Utah Shakespeare Festival and also co-founed the Anaheim Civic Light Opera Company. Today Ken continues to produce Classical Music Discoveries and is the artistic director of the CMD Grand Opera Company of Venice and the CMD Symphony Orchestra of Paris.
