Relationships, Relationships…
Do You Know... what a little note card can do for you asks the queen of music cards?
'If you do that once a week for, say, 10 months, “40 people will feel a little more special because you did, and they will think you are very special because of what you did.”' (sited below).
It's in my New Year's resolution to write greeting cards to send regularly. But so was it last year. A hard habit to start if you are also having to keep practicing your "axe" and exercising too every day!
Before I had my new web site ready, two friends independently passed me the info about high achievers who recommend using hand written notes as a regular (weekly or better) habit .
Whether for business or personal reasons, writing a note on one of Becky's fun note cards will be a good deed both to your recipient and to yourself. Communication in the form of a note of gratitude or just mere positive thoughts that you'd like to share, will always put a speck of stardust into the sky with your name on it.
Joan Cronan, past UT Knoxville Women's Athletic Director for 28 years, says* writing a handwritten note is one item on her to do list of 5 things that she tries to accomplish EVERY DAY! Encouraging someone is so important to create positive feelings and energy for a team. It creates a great rapport with others. She adds that notes she receives from her former coaches and students are a treasure for her.
Then there is a similar recommendation from Chief Justice John Roberts, presented in an article by Sam Greene in the 29 December 2017 Wall Street Journal.
From commencement speech for Justice's son's 9th grade graduation: “Once a week, you should write a note to someone. Not an email. A note on a piece of paper. It will take you exactly 10 minutes.” Then, he urged, put the note in an envelope and send it off the old way: via U.S. mail. Link to the article. Link to his speech.
The handwritten note, he said, might express appreciation for someone who has helped you out or treated you with kindness, and who may not know how grateful you are.
