Mask Style and Fabric Choices

Choose Mask Style and Fabric (Scroll Down)

About choices:

Choose Halyard Material or Fabric. All masks have wire in the nose. Email Becky with mask style choices and fabrics. If none are chosen, a standard size fabric mask with elastic ears will be sent. You can also request to view other fabrics.

The standard fabric mask has wire that you can bend to your face along the nose section. A nurse has told me on May 4 that letting a fabric mask sit untouched for 2 days will rid it of Corona-19 germs. You can wash it if you like. Put it in a netting bag or pillow case to wash in a machine. Dry on low or air dry.

My understanding of Halylard Mask Styles and Material designed by UF College of Medicine’s department of anesthesiology:

The Halyard mask styles are narrower, but go deeper under the chin. (I can also make my standard style with Halyard material if you request.) You might let me know if you want standard size or smaller/larger. The Halyard material provides higher filter protection - higher than 95 percent. But if the mask doesn’t fit snugly, we can’t guarantee the protection level. You can not wash Halyard material, but you can put it in the oven at 165 degrees F for 30 minutes to sterilize. (How many times you can do this without degrading filter quality has not been determined at the time of this writing.) Note that leaving the mask unattended will take 7 days to rid it of germs.

See complete information about these masks and the Halyard material, at this link: UF College of Medicine’s department of anesthesiology. Please note that a nurse purchased this Halyard material for me to use, I will reimburse her for her purchase with $5 per mask.
